“Spartacus” movie is the story about famous gladiator Spartacus, his lover Varinia and ambitious Roman commander Marcus Licinius Crassus. Spartacus fights against the cruel rules set in Rome. He is thirst for freedom, he hates being slave. Spartacus incites a legendary slaves’ uprising. This person went down in history. His actions became the most important event in the world history of that time.

“Spartacus” is the movie of the greatest director Stanley Kubrick. It describes the struggle for freedom. It’s not only the struggle for a free hand but for freedom of feelings and thoughts.

Stanley Kubrich decided to show Spartacus not as a hero but as an ordinary person who has his own values and feelings. Yes, gladiator was fighting for equality and justice but he is not a king:

I am something better. A free man.

The movie has a lot of spectacular, fine and even shock scenes: mass castling of Roman legionaries accompanied with child’s cry; alley set with crucified fighters for freedom.
